Who, or what, is the greatest love of your life? Is it a person? Is it a creative pursuit, involving music, writing, cooking, or art? Is it a passion, like food, film, or travel? How has it shaped your life?

I'm not even going to explain who the loves of my life are because we'll be here for hours. But I think my two passions are history and writing. My favorite thing to learn about is Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. I would say that history has shaped my life...I plan to major in it when I go off to college!
And writing....oh my Harrison, my brain would explode without writing. I have so many daydreams and fantasies that I need to write them down in order to get rid of them. It's also my escape, my alternate reality. Sure, I get the occaisonal eye roll because almost everything I write involves The Monkees, but I try my best to ignore it. I should write what I please, no?

I just heard that Phyllis Nesmith died this past Saturday. She was apparently suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease.
I wanted to post a little picture tribute to such an amazing and beautiful woman.
Rest in peace, Phyllis. We will miss you. <3

31 January 2010 @ 01:45 pm

I'm sitting here listening to every Monkees song that Nez sings and also some of his solo work. He makes me very happy. His voice is just so pretty and it makes my heart flutter. His music can make me smile or cry because of it's beauty. It's so mellow, so calming, so hoplessly romantic...
I know he was (and still is) a jerk, but that doesn't mean I don't love him, because I do. I get crap for having him as a favorite, but I don't really pay attention to it anymore.
He puts a smile on my face, mends my fragile heart when it breaks, and just makes me feel good.
I know I obsess over him so much on here, but sometimes you just gotta say the obvious, ya know?
I love him.

It's Wednesday. Two more days of midterm exams. I hope I can survive. I I've been able to live thus far off my my Monkees dvds and Monkees fanfic (writing it, not reading it). Man, I haven't read fanfic in forever. I feel like such a hypocrite. I post it and expect others to read my work, but never read other work. And oh my, slash...I miss whereitssafe. I haven't been over there in months. But luckily, I've been writing Torksmith any chance I get after my tests and other classes.

Anyways, my English midterm went pretty well. I think I rambled a bit on my 5 paragraph essay, but it's all good. Pre-calc/Trig was a bit tricky, but I don't think it was *that* terrible. I kind of guessed on my French one. Whatever, I don't care if I get a good grade in that class. I just want a 3rd credit for college apps next year. Mass communications was too easy - I got to use all my notes on it. Tomorrow is band and history. I'm a history freak and I can record my band exam at home, so that's not tough. The only one I'm terribly freaking out about is Chemistry. I feel like I don't know anything.

Well, I guess I should get back to work. I can't wait for this weekend. I'm going to do as little schoolwork as possible and stay up late to read fanfic. Yup, the perfect weekend. :D

I remain, gentleman, your obedient servant.

Back to school tomorrow. I'm always excited, yet sad. I love having vacation, but it will be nice to get back into my normal daily routine. I want to see my favorite teachers again, especially Mrs. Carney, my History teacher. She's so fun to be around. And any teacher that volunteers to help me look at colleges is amazing. Actually, I'm only dreading two things - my research paper for English class and Midterms. Midterms start around the 19th, which means the teachers will soon pile on those huge review packets. UGH. But I want to try something different this year. I'll try and study with friends. It might be more fun and helpful (that is, if my friends focus.). I'm gonna need some help from my three main boys - Nez, Peter, and Lennon - to survive!

Now, I'm not here to say 'OMG OMG TWILIGHT IS THE BESTTT' because honestly, it's not. But in this day and age, even admitting that you like Twilight a little bit can have consequences. Saying you like it automatically makes you a superfan (Twihards, I think they're called?) to most people. I'm just a regular fan. I read the whole series (way before the movies came out) and thought it was great, but I'm not calling in the greatest piece of literature because it really isn't. I saw the first movie and really enjoyed it as a movie. Compared to the book, it sucked. I plan to see New Moon as well.
But it still doesn't make sense to me - Why does simply enjoying a series make me a fanatic?

I gotta stop sweatin' the little things. My school's semi-formal is tomorrow night, and I'm freaking out about it. I've been on the search for a slip that won't show under my dress and CAN'T FIND ONE. They all show the line! I don't feel very feminine in my dress either. I'm not exactly a size two and don't have petite features. Oh, and I don't have a date to semi. Why? I was a dumbass and didn't ask the guy I wanted to. I chickened out and then one of his friends asked him to go with her. UGHH. I should have asked him....even my friends think this. He's a huge Beatles fan, loves the red sox, and he's a band geek...perfect guy for me, no?
As I said before, I really should stop sweating the little things like this. But, I just can't for some reason....

School was a war zone today! This week is spirit week, and this particular day is white out day, where the entire school is supposed to wear white. Well, the seniors concocted a plan to wear all black...you know, just seniors having a little laugh. One of the teachers saw this as disrespectful and wanted to suspend any senior who did this (which she couldn't do, obviously). But then some of the juniors were wearing shirts that said "Got respect? Not anymore." on them. Seniors got pissed at Juniors, Juniors got pissed at Seniors....it was terribly childish. There must have been a dozen or so fights (including a food fight, I think). Seniors were spraying Juniors that were wearing white with black spray paint. A bunch of people got detention or suspended. It was just ridiculous. All this over colors!

I'm not really digging being a Junior in high school. It's so much more work than last year. I don't like some of my teachers, either. My french teacher is just incompetent and all we do is busywork. The teacher I had last year was amazing and guess what? I actually learned French! And don't even get me started on my chemistry teacher. She is so fucking confusing and condescending. She also looks like a mushroom. Like, legit. Mario should be jumping on her head. I understand why it's so much work, but doesn't mean I accept the reasoning. I barely have time to come on LJ or write anymore. I'm like *holds fingers up close together* that close to finishing Belgravia (I work on it in school...lol), but because of homework, I don't have time to post it. I also have a few good fanfics in my head and/or in the works, but no time to be creative. *sighs*

I realized that the football players who are also in the marching/concert band don't do anything during the marching band season. Now, you may think they should get out of it because they play football, but I don't think it's fair. During class, they just sit around and listen to music or text people while the rest of the band works on the music for the half-time show. I think they should have to learn the music as well. Obviously they shouldn't learn the stand tunes, but I think the football players should at least sit with the rest of the band and attempt to play the music. What makes them so special?

I noticed something about two Monkees songs, both titled You and I. The first one is off of the album "Instant Replay." In the song, the Monkees talk about how they will soon be an outdated band ("in a year or maybe two we'll be gone and someone new will take our place/ they'll be another song, another voice, another pretty face..."). Then, on the album Justus, the boys did another song called You and I. In it, they talked about how they have stayed together all these years. Even though they've broken up several times, they always come back. ("After all was said and done they never understood/how we always made it/ we knew we always could") I just love how these two songs sum up the entire career of The Monkees in a few minutes. :)

To dream about the death of a loved one, suggests that you are lacking a certain aspect or quality that the loved one embodies. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about him. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances.

Now, you're probably wondering why I put this certain passage above.
